For 35 years, Tom Parr was a central figure in the decorating division of Colefax & Fowler - first as design partner to John Fowler and then moving steadily upwards to the position of chairman by the time he retired. It is his expert eye for how a room is put together that is his great strength when designing textiles: “When I design, I always ask myself ‘How will this be used?’
” The technology offered by Elanbach has opened his eyes to all sorts of creative possibilities, in particular the potential to sample many different colour combinations that would be uneconomical on a conventional print machine. It is no surprise given his design pedigree that Tom Parr’s Casella and Isabel collections set to attain classic status. They have an elegant timeless appeal that could fit as happily into a country house setting as a contemporary urban one.
“As a decorator, I always strove to create rooms that were comfortable, easy to live with and not quirky. The success I had was largely in knowing how to use fabrics that made lovely rooms - now I have put my hand to inventing such fabrics for Elanbach”.
