Elanbach launch the Evora Collection
An eclectic medley of designs inspired by a beautiful 1940s painting of the Madonna and Child.
The Evora Collection
The latest collection from Regine Burnell, Evora, is an eclectic medley of designs inspired by a beautiful 1940’s painting of the Madonna and Child. The painting, a long treasured heirloom of Regine’s, depicts the Madonna in a stylised seascape wearing highly patterned robes. The Evora Collection was launched in September ’09 to coincide with the opening of the Elanbach showroom in the DesignCentre Chelsea Harbour. The collection is made up of five designs. Evora an intricate two-colour filigree with stylised lotus motif developed from the embroidered outer robe of the Madonna. Lagoa is a flowing repeating three-colour depiction of the sea in the painting. It is reminiscent of Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock printing particularly in the tonal blue colourway. Sintra, a medium scale damask was developed from a stencil print in the Moorish-style palace in the Parc Monserrate in Sintra, Portugal. Guincho, a highly usable decorative stripe also references Japanese woodblock prints with its stylised climbing kelp motif. Beja, a playful interlocking abstract reworked from a 1940’s dress print, completes the collection. This and all the designs are named after Portuguese towns. Designs in The Evora Collection are available in four confident colourways including Tyrian purple, Cerulean blue and Pale Taupe.
